Clarkson i can get along with, well to a certain extent. I do find his blasé thunder fart five approach to be a trifle much at times, but at least he makes me laugh.

It's that floppy haired, tweed coloured dildo May that really pisses me off.

His recent programs outside of Top Gear have made me sick on myself with increasing frequency. "Oh lets get a load of students to build a meccano bridge whilst i flounce about seeing how many toffees i can put up my bum".

The shitter.

Jeff the homemade car was fantastic. One of the funniest things I've seen on tv in a long time!

Maybe I'm becoming too pretentious, but Top Gear is just becoming increasingly annoying. The whole Geoff 'sketch' really irked me. It wasn't just slapstick, it was practically children's-movie level humor. Haha, James only used two batteries and it goes really slow, haha, it's died in an intersection, haha, it rolled down a hill, they didn't see that coming!

If you're going to script the humor, at least make it funny please. This kind of stuff would be hilarious if it was genuine, but as written jokes, it doesn't begin to pass mustard.

It's just a little.. cliched now I guess, the way they always sabotage their own tasks. Was much funnier when you genuinely believed they tried and failed miserably. Now they just seem like set ups for the slapstick humour.

Still enjoyable though.

I posted before I went back a page and read. I totally agree.

Did I miss an entire series of Top Gear? How long has the current one with the cheery Geoff fellow been on?

Was there another series before it I missed? What was the last series?

Ah, fuck it. I don't give a shit anymore.

Seeing a clip from the latest Clarkson DVD reminds me of the fact that I still have a major, unexplainable crush on Vicky Butler Henderson. She's like Francis Mcdormand in a Coen brothers movie. I don't look at her and think "PHWOOARR, GET ON MY COCK", more... "Aw, give me a cuddle."

I want Tiff back too. I'm not down on Top Gear as it is, but I do miss those guys. I even miss Quentin wotsisface. You know, the balding posh git.

Tiff still appears on Fifth Gear and, if anything, has become both funnier and better at presenting. I still think of Fifth Gear as being Tiff and "the other two", although they are growing into the role each series. Much like early Top Gear presenters did.

There have been genuinely hilarious moments during this series of Top Gear. Usually it's the clearly ad-lib jibes at each other, after the staged failure takes place and they realise how much work they'll now have to do. As Azz says, it usn't memorable...but then it's entertainment. It's an event to be enjoyed whilst it happens.

It's weird how the new(ish) format of Top Gear means it only gets reviewed for how funny it is...even amongst semi-petrolheads like us. It is still a car show, imho. Most of the show is about reviewing cars, it's just the settings and story are given more prominence than the facts and figures. The conclusion about what you should but don't matter a great deal but it remains a great place to see what's out there and how it compares to other stuff.

Of course, nearly all of the cars they review are things we can never afford. Well, maybe old farts like Azz can. But it does mean you know how careful you should be when opening your door in a tight car park.

There'll be another one this evening...think it's the road trip around South America? Their motorised Polar Expedition and the Vietnam Special were awesome, so I have high hopes for this.

Incidentally, does anyone where watch the Dakar? They raced that around South America last year and will do so again this year.

I was under the impression Fifth Gear was canned, although I just checked the wiki and all it has is a "cancellation rumours" section with no concrete evidence.

Just iplayer-ed the Bolivia special. Absolutely fantastic. Only one slightly overly contrived sour point, towards the end, involving car death, but meh. Entertaining as buggery. Also, Hammond and bugs... Yeah, I'm feeling that.

"That wasn't funny three series ago."

yeah I'd hit it..

TG was very good actually. Totally agree about the stupid bit with the rolling car. I can't believe the majority of the audience don't feel slightly insulted by the orchestrated crap like that, but perhaps I'm overestimating the intelligence of the typical tg viewer?

Either way I enjoyed it thoroughly, but having played on the ice in my beamer I shall be staying firmly on the tarmac, no duning for me. Just you know, remember to drive without rhythm. arf arf

Delf, we've got a PM system you know. You've made it its own topic and the thing is, I don't think anybody minds if Azz or whoever has the big box o' tools gets to it in their own sweet time.

Is it really that hard to just type in the tags as you need 'em?

Also, thanks Ameer, I just came.
