| You might just need to tweak your system..?
Graphics driver update perhaps? If not, you can always try the following:
Firstly, before you even play the game, press "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" to view your task manager, and simply close all IdleWare. (eg. ICQ, MSN, AIM, Winamp, RealOne Updater etc..)
I'm running WinXP Pro, and I can go down to about 10 - 15 processes, which is pretty good considering.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can try edit your MSConfig file, to prevent IdleWare from even starting up with your computer.. But if you're uncertain, don't try it.
Secondly, in the game.. don't run it at a resolution greater than your desktop.. so lower your resolution if need be.. turn off trails; keep frame sync on, and turn off frame limiter (in case you havent done these already).
If this doesn't help, try a fresh install of the game (your saves are safe).
I'm able to run the game at 800 x 600 at 24+ frames a second (TV standard) on my crusty old Celeron 500Mhz and a Xabre 400 Pro (64MB GFX Card). |
