boo. been wanting to do this for a while, so I thought I'd get started. Only spent about five hours or so on it so far, needs quite a lot of work.

I'm not happy with the shape yet, keep tweaking things, but I'm considering redoing the back end entirely.

Anywho what is it. well it's the ar1, done in 3d. I understand most of you won't have a clue what I'm talking about. erm, lemme find a pic..

I've taken artistic license of course, what with the original being utter crap. But it started my AR series and hence has a little place in my heart :)

There are a few things I like about it though lol. I think the roll bars look good (obviously inspired by the TT/StreetKa), and I think the headlights work well. Since it took like an hour to redo them to look like that I'd prefer it if you all agree :)

Anywho, suggestions welcome (constructive ones of course :))

It's nice, the frog eye headlights are very cool.

I'm just waiting for one of the new kids to ask what AR stands for ;)

Ooh, the original AR! It's nice, very faithful to the original, which I always thought looked like a beefed-up Tommy Kaira ZZ. Could even make me force GTA3 to work again... ;)

Any plans for other classic AR's?

Is modeling the wheel hubs such a great idea?  They will be covered by wheels with large disk brakes, from the concept-car look of this.  Think of the polygons! ;D

the headlights have lots of room for me to put a bulb in, as soon as I figure out what it should look like :)

AR stands for something? shiiit.

Ah, but Peril that's because the AR1 was designed to be the rouge offspring of a Tommy and a Renault Spider :)

I really want to do the Syncope, but I think I'd have to do it justice and I'm just not good enough at modelling yet.

They're supposed to be break discs Cerb. It'll look better when they're textured I guess :). Kidnapped the idea from that Murcielago, which is kind of like my target. I'll never reach it, but if I can model as well as that I'll buy myself a cookie.

I'm still not sure about the retro style rear lights. Not sure if they fit the car. Perhaps if I try and get the rest a bit more that style? hmmm

The first thing i noticed was those tail lights. They might not fit the car perfectly, but they look pretty damn cool. Maybe They could be put on a different car in the future?

And what about some rear bumper details, maybe a tailpipe or something...

here's a quick shot of the new back end I'm working on. The normals are scary nasty, but I'll sort them later... bloody things.

I've tried to keep the same bug eyed look of the front, and I think it's quite striking. Based loosely on the renault spider, which I thought was in fitting with the original.

Busted, the whole back section is the rear bumper, so it comes off in one piece. I need to work on the underneath, at the moment it's just a smooth curve. Tai..gah, exhaust pipes will come later. I'm thinking of a pair, rather than the four on the ferrari (seems a little ott).

What do you think of the number plate? We (as in those of us making gta3 cars) should get together and design a custom community one that we can change as per the car. If you know what I mean..

oh yeah, picture heh.

Oh bloody hell! These cars have good design, but they're so bleeding boxy! Export that to 3ds and send it my way Azz. I'll slicker it up so it goes down your throat good. The pollies can kiss my ass.

It's back, in full style!!! Yup, I like it, could do with some smoothing on the edges, but since I don't know much about 3D modelling, I don't even know how hard to must be!

Judging from the looks you've tried to fuse the Porsche 911 with the boxster. And so far, you're doing a damn good job. But Mewish was right when he said it was TOO BOXY!!

Looks pretty sweet so far, but I'll partly have to agree with Mew about the boxy-ness. I know most of the problem is just from the yet-to-be-sorted normals, but that line where the bumper/boot thingy connects to the rest is a bit octagonal. Other than that,  it's great. :)

And about that license plate idea... what country/state/city would we put on it? Perhaps we should make 'em so it looks like Gouranga is the country, and GTAzz is the city.... would be a nice way for us to represent the old school when our cars end up all over the net. ;)

fiddle fiddle. ok starting to loose patience with it lol. spent hours tweaking the back end through god knows how many evolutions, and it's sort of getting to where I want it, but not quite.

I've blatantly stolen the idea for the exhaust pipes from the new Gallardo, all apologies to the designer :)

I quite like the rear lights now, though I'm still tempted to go for a rectangular cluster.

Tried a few things with the front end, but it's not playing. grr. Going to add a small wing to it, but other than that not sure.

Might have another go at making wheels tomorrow, but it's seriously not my strong point :

     http://azz.gouranga.com/azz/renders/prev4.jpg

I think it's getting smoother too. let's see stands at 3450polys at the mo, so there's scope for many more. But I want it to stay chunky is the thing.. we'll see.

    ta for the feedback folks

    It's a bit ... American, isn't it?

Personally I like the style of hte first tail lights better :)

It certainly is a good Roadster, Azz. As Roadster is, AR 1 is As Roadster As GTA AR1 Roadster was, Azz.

    got it ?  ;D  ;)  ;)  ;)

ok I'm bored with this one now.. I've already started my next car actually (real world, less curves, ie easier :) ). I want to do the damage doobreys and get it released.

I've tweaked it a bit though, tidied up the edges and added details n stuff. still needs the centre of the dash texturing and that's about it.

that's my first real attempt at 3d wheels, I think they've come out ok.

not a lot else to say about it really :). Hope for a release some point soon..

funky azz, just funky. it's got a real retro feel to it. shape's a little skewed towards the front though, but the back's pretty damn good.
