Well, since we have a new forum, and VCPC draws ever closer, I figured I'd go ahead and make a new versio of this topic. So toss all your guesses and hopes for future GTA games this way. :)

Anyhow, last night, I thought of a rather interesting thing they could do to the PC version of VC. What if they made it so you could go to the airport in Vice city and catch a plane back to Liberty City, and vice versa? And then to make things more interesting, all of VC's new stuff (cars, peds, guns, etc) were there.  Just imagine how much fun it would be to ride around Liberty City on a PCJ, what, with all the big jumps and whatnot. :D

Now considering the engines for both games are nearly identical, I would imagine this would be extremely easy to pull off... Just pop a line or two into the .exe, compile a new mission script for GTA3, and have Liberty City (from the GTA3 folder) load into VC's game engine. Hell, if the executable would allow it, I could make the mission script and map tweaks myself in a matter of hours. Sure, we could always just make a mod to do this once it comes out, but it would be exellent if the retail version came with it all ready to go, no?

Hey Schu, any chance you could give one of the Houser's a quick prod about this idea? It should be dead-easy for them to implement with their uber SDK. And I would think a PC exclusive feature like that would sell even more copies, so perhaps they'll like the idea?

That sounds like a very very sensible idea. If the code for level transitions like this were to become accessible to the outside programmer, it might be possible to lightly tweak existing maps (such as removing the absurd "tides" to the west of Portland Vale) and add a fan-made map on there...

Could be sweet. If such a thing were possible I would definitely consider taking a proper interest in GTA mod making for once. ;)

I'd like to be able to fly a real plane. Like a big one.
And of course - swimming. Why the hell can't the GTA guys swim?
Oh, and more "fun" secrets or cheats. Like the ability to fly a UFO. Totally useless, but loadsa fun. :P

Swiming would be cool. Here's some additional wishes from me:

    More realistic military
    More realistic weapon damages
    More realistic city.
    Destroyable buildings
Dogs / Cats / other animals
    Get in to every building
    More things to buy
    Ferries
Airport with transport of the player to the other cities (liberty city, vice city)
More realistic radio stations (I'll get back with a post later on about that.

That wouldn't work on current GTA3 maps though... if you fall into the water, you wouldn't have anywhere to swim to (or maybe you'd have to end up going across half the map). Added to this, you might use your ability to skip ahead a bit (seperating levels by water is a very useful way of  preventng the player advancing too far, and it would be unhelpful to lose this. Both of these problems could be overcome in some way by merely limiting the amount of time that can be spent swimming before the player drowns, but then it would be super-annoying accidentally jumping off somewhere and having to wait to die.

Im not so sure about swimming, i'd probably only suggest maybe 1 - 5 seconds of swim time, just incase you fall out of your boat, or drive your car a bit to far into the water on the beach.

More realistic bike physics, um...well, everyone's basically summed up what I wanted.

I've only thought about this recently; but how about randomised missions? That would increase the replay value of future GTA games to no end!

For example: As you start a mission, the type of mission is randomly selected (assasination, race, drug deal, stalking etc..) the target is randomly placed somewhere in the city; and in the case of stalking and races, a random finish line is selected as well.

Just imagine if this was implemented in Vice City.. in the Phenom Peng '86 (sp?) mission; you could have been flown to any building, facing any combination of enemies.. It would have also made the Sunshine Auto's races a lil' more interesting.

Ah well, that's my 2c.. for now anyway.  :p

I really like that idea kaine, although not as using it as a main mission, but maybe as a phone that starts ringing after you have completed all the main story missions [not including 100 cab drop offs, vigilante etc.], im not sure about the programing side of things, but i guess it wouldnt be too hard for them.
