I have never seen such a complex badge on a car, especially one that uses basic Photoshop text effects.

Exactly! It's a BADGE, not a magazine. Here are a couple of basic designs you might consider elaborating on...

okay...some feedback to all the badge designs:

Elxx' badge: looks cool, I really like the stainless steel look of it. Only thing that keeps me from using it is that I think it might look stupid to put a badge on a car that shows the car itself.

Mad Matt's attempts: quite beautiful, but a bit too detailed. As 2na mentioned, it's rather complex, which might be not a great choice for a badge, as people tend to remember simple logos easier. I'm afraid that most of the details will get lost if I shrink them to a good size for a texture. I'm not sure about the font Matt chose either, I think it's a bit displaced for a car that mainly shows power and agression.

Alfas basic designs: definitely a base to work on.

Let's see what Dup's logo looks like, hope he gets that done soon.

Handling feedback (mainly for Cerbera), after a 15 minute test through Vice City:
The car has quite a lot of grip. Pulling through traffic is easy, lane changes at full speed are possible without losing grip. It requires quite a lot of handbrake in narrow corners, though. I think that's quite like it should be for a car with this extremely long wheelbase, width, and tyre sizes. The grip level is actually so good that I think it could even take a bit more power.
I definitely need to work on the suspension, it just doesn't feel good right now. I can't give it any more travel, though, the body is having no more room to take that.

Call it a Mazda just for the sake of confusing people.

Very rough sketch. I can chrome that up if you like, make it a little more compact. The N part will go on the front, full thing on the back.

OK, I re-wrote my suspension tutorials on my site so I have the full formula up there.  This means I can take a scientific calculator to the library and work out suspension properly there.

(EDIT)  I'm now at the library, so I'll remind myself of the line the car is using currently:
Code:
BANSHEE         1250.0 2.2 4.5 1.1 0.0 0.03 0.15 70  0.95 0.80 0.46 5 275.0 35.0 R P 5.0  0.62 0 22.5  1.8  0.18 0.30 0.49 45000 0.18 -0.14 0.5  0.3 1008183 1  0
Now it's time for the scientific calculator paired with my Suspension Formula to figure out what the actual effect of those settings are.

Code:
10(Spring Force / (Upper - Lower)) = Spring Effect
10(1.8 / (0.18 + 0.14)) = 56.25

Spring Effect: 56.25

- - - - - - - -

80(Damper Force / (Upper - Lower)) = Damper Effect
80(0.18 / (0.18 + 0.14)) = 45

Damper Effect: 45
These are race-car stiff, plus the effect should be the same for both.  I use a stiffness of around 35 for sporty cars and 50 for GT racecars, so for this I'll use 40.  With these limits I calculate:
Code:
(Spring Effect(Upper - Lower)) / 10 = Spring Force
(40(0.18 + 0.14)) / 10 = 1.28

Spring Force = 1.28

- - - - - - - -

(Damper Effect(Upper - Lower)) / 80 = Damper Damper
(40(0.18 + 0.14)) / 80 = 0.16

Damper Force = 0.16

Righty, incorporating these (as well as a little traction and CoM_Y tweak) into the handling gives this:
Code:
;Cerbera's handling for Fragdieb's Neural:
BANSHEE         1250.0 2.2 4.5 1.1 0.0 0.03 0.15 70  0.90 0.75 0.46 5 275.0 35.0 R P 5.0  0.62 0 22.5  1.30 0.16 0.30 0.49 45000 0.18 -0.14 0.5  0.3 1008183 1  0
Let me know what the brakes are like.  Take some 1024x768 images of the car in action by driving figure-eights around Starfish island in Cinematic mode, then URL link them here.  I'll use one for the entry this will eventually have on my site, once the handling is sorted.

(EDIT2)  I think Azz's design, which is a similar idea to Alfa's first doodle, would work as a badge best of all.  Putting it in some sort of a square frame, or a diamond, or something would take it from being a stylised letter into the realms of manufacture badge.

Someone could try a less literal logo, I only know of Honda and Toyota as using their first letter as thier logo and Toyota's is hardly even a letter.  Oh, you need to figure out a model name for this as well.

Neural 12R (Number of cylinders, amount of horsepower, top speed, plus some letters.)
Neural KFN&G&*(TB FRBHJU (Letters-and-numbers type name.)
Neural Vista
Neural Impact

You could add a couple of letters onto the end of those model name suggestions, combo it up.

Looks like I've got to hurry up with the release of this thing, I'll be leaving for holydays next wednesday, and I wont be able to play Vice City then as it doesn't run on my laptop.

Short handling feedback: Suspension is much better now, the car really shows the forces that work on it when cornering. The brakes seem quite suitable for this car, I'll do a more detailed handling test this evening, it's just too hot right now.

Azz' logo is at least something that's easy to recognize and keep in mind. I don't know why almost all of you (except Azz and Alfa) favour those pseudo-handwriting fonts, I don't really like them, they look more 70's than 80's to me.

Hyundai does, too,  Volkswagen (in a way), Talbot did that when they were building cars.

Don't encourage me, my sick brains will probably come up with something like Neural XTC Rush V12 or likewise. cool

o.o; last tiem i was here was over a year ago, and only one or two cars were getting developed. i remember when azz showed his mini cooper before it was even half done i think. we all knew we'd see a great car. And congrats to you azz, it is looking excellent now that its been finished for many months. Either way, ive got to say these few things. oh - my - fuckign - god.
Are you serious?? A neural?? in gta3??? That is ridiculous. Im not being nasty or anything, but this neural.. Well.. its sort of, superior to gta3. Put this in gta3, and youd think all the other cars had been replaced by crapper models. I mean, this neural is fucking sweet, i cant believe how much of a low poly count it has as well, i mean, wow this is blowing me away. If you make futuristic-like cars and team up with an excellent map maker, then you guys could make a futuristic GTA3. Im sure we would all like to see that. This car is amazing.
If your confused wether i like/hate this car, then stop being confused, because i LOVE this car. Excellent work, and basing it off Dups neural, ingenious. It must have been hard without blueprints as a reference, but how you made it with only a top down image to begin with is pure brilliant. very very good, keep us posted!!

Although I didn't really like these rims, they do fit if you think about it hard enough. The Nueral and these rims look like something straight from Italdesign.

http://cool33.w.interia.pl/scighera3.jpg

They've used a similar rim design in other concepts, including the Corvette Moray.

I think it's pretty odd that your wheels would look so similar to Italdesign wheels, on a car so similar to something Italdesign would come up with.
Were you by any chance looking towards them for inspiration, or is this purely coincidental?
