Handling feedback (mainly for Cerbera), after a 15 minute test through Vice City: The car has quite a lot of grip. Pulling through traffic is easy, lane changes at full speed are possible without losing grip. It requires quite a lot of handbrake in narrow corners, though. I think that's quite like it should be for a car with this extremely long wheelbase, width, and tyre sizes. The grip level is actually so good that I think it could even take a bit more power. I definitely need to work on the suspension, it just doesn't feel good right now. I can't give it any more travel, though, the body is having no more room to take that. OK, I re-wrote my suspension tutorials on my site so I have the full formula up there. This means I can take a scientific calculator to the library and work out suspension properly there.
(EDIT) I'm now at the library, so I'll remind myself of the line the car is using currently: Code:
BANSHEE 1250.0 2.2 4.5 1.1 0.0 0.03 0.15 70 0.95 0.80 0.46 5 275.0 35.0 R P 5.0 0.62 0 22.5 1.8 0.18 0.30 0.49 45000 0.18 -0.14 0.5 0.3 1008183 1 0 Now it's time for the scientific calculator paired with my Suspension Formula to figure out what the actual effect of those settings are.
Code:
10(Spring Force / (Upper - Lower)) = Spring Effect 10(1.8 / (0.18 + 0.14)) = 56.25
Spring Effect: 56.25
- - - - - - - -
80(Damper Force / (Upper - Lower)) = Damper Effect 80(0.18 / (0.18 + 0.14)) = 45
Damper Effect: 45 These are race-car stiff, plus the effect should be the same for both. I use a stiffness of around 35 for sporty cars and 50 for GT racecars, so for this I'll use 40. With these limits I calculate: Code:
(Spring Effect(Upper - Lower)) / 10 = Spring Force (40(0.18 + 0.14)) / 10 = 1.28
Spring Force = 1.28
- - - - - - - -
(Damper Effect(Upper - Lower)) / 80 = Damper Damper (40(0.18 + 0.14)) / 80 = 0.16
Damper Force = 0.16
Righty, incorporating these (as well as a little traction and CoM_Y tweak) into the handling gives this: Code:
;Cerbera's handling for Fragdieb's Neural: BANSHEE 1250.0 2.2 4.5 1.1 0.0 0.03 0.15 70 0.90 0.75 0.46 5 275.0 35.0 R P 5.0 0.62 0 22.5 1.30 0.16 0.30 0.49 45000 0.18 -0.14 0.5 0.3 1008183 1 0 Let me know what the brakes are like. Take some 1024x768 images of the car in action by driving figure-eights around Starfish island in Cinematic mode, then URL link them here. I'll use one for the entry this will eventually have on my site, once the handling is sorted.
(EDIT2) I think Azz's design, which is a similar idea to Alfa's first doodle, would work as a badge best of all. Putting it in some sort of a square frame, or a diamond, or something would take it from being a stylised letter into the realms of manufacture badge.
Someone could try a less literal logo, I only know of Honda and Toyota as using their first letter as thier logo and Toyota's is hardly even a letter. Oh, you need to figure out a model name for this as well.
Neural 12R (Number of cylinders, amount of horsepower, top speed, plus some letters.) Neural KFN&G&*(TB FRBHJU (Letters-and-numbers type name.) Neural Vista Neural Impact
You could add a couple of letters onto the end of those model name suggestions, combo it up. ------------------
