If you download the GTA1 off the Rockstar Classics site thing, that's been altered to make it fully XP compatible.

.. and alas it's wrong.

They improved it to try and address the problem, but it still stutters like a erm, stuttery thing, and I'm not the only one who's reported the issue. Which is a sod. but vaguely comforting to know it's not my eyes I guess

Well, I can't re-make the tiles for GTA1 (Im not into that kind of detail... yet), but it will add a nice twist to it, and add some cool things to the map, such as slopes, lights, trains (I know they were in GTA1, but GTA2 was kinda better... except you can't hi-jack them  ;) ) and all things like that.

I was playing GTA1 a while ago on Win XP (and GTA London) and worked just fine, including its multiplayer, and all was working OK, and I didn't need to download any patches (Win XP Home that is, aint tried it on Pro).

I thought this was supposed to be a name suggestion post?  ;D

My original idea was Rynn City for no apparent reason. I hope some other people put some decent ideas on  :D

Funnily enough, I don't have that problem, but I know someone who does. Mine works smooth as hell.

Did anything come of this, Pyro?  I don't think there's really much demand for mods like this so it's no problem if you decided to cancel it but not announcing it's been cancelled is a bit lazy of you.

Personally, I think that MultiSlayer was the last worthwhile project for GTA1/2 modding because multiplayer mapping was the only thing which gave GTA2 longevity, imho.

wait for test-drive and half-gbh.
 
no, you can't know what that is, it is gta2 project but
doesn't look like gta2, the second mod is part of TSTD
and IS connected to half-life.
 
both mods are connected to multiplayer, robots, and
robert tuovinen's cars.
 
basicly these mods will put gta2 better, over gta1.
 
also, 3d-one project (gta1 in vice engine) is not
affected by this gta2 stuff.
 
edit: i think pyro actualy played tstd once..
but he knows only tstd part of the project.

    GTA multiplayer cannonball run and deathmatch doesnt work no one played it because you had to have the same operating system as whoever you are connecting with and something about a firewall

    Half-life engine can do a top down car game?  Sounds interesting, I might finally have a reason to install that game.

    how about opposite, building half-life kinda game in gta2 engine?

    That's still going? Should be fun, mind, although Black mesa was quite large, how would you do the 'loading...' bits? Or is it MP only?
