| I'm still working on my Mazda. Well, the model itself is completely finished now, except for the tires. Azz, in another topic you said that I needed dmagic's doodad, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Could you, or someone else give me a link? EDIT: Never mind.. I already found it :P Here's some pictures of my Mazda btw: ------------------ HAHA!!!!! I'll drive you crazy, and I'll KILL you all!!! |

| Gah, I wish I had PC access at home because then I'd be able to offer to do the handling for this once it is finished. For the time being the interior looks excellent, normals and edges look pretty crisp and clean but a wireframe view is always welcome for people to see. :Y ------------------

| Hmmm, why do you want Wireframe on? With wireframe off cou can see the normals better than when it's on in my opinion. I just put windows in the doors and in the sides at the back, btw. I almost forgot about putting em in :D EDIT: How do you make the handling, actually? Do you look up the handling of the cars, so that they drive like they do in real-life, or do you guess how it should drive? Would be nice if the car would drive like it does in real-life :D. Only two minor points: the car turns like a brick and accelerates like shit in a funnel :D But when you're on the highway with this thing, it cruises fine and feels quite safe. Too bad it's broken at the moment and is gonna be sold soon. EDIT 2: Hmmm, I imported the original wheels.dff in my cars dff to check the scale the wheels should be. But the wheels even higher than the car itself.. I read somethng about this, but I don't think the wheels should be this big, or should they? ------------------ HAHA!!!!! | You never had your came ingame until now? If the original wheel is higher than your whole car, I suspect that your car is too small...you should really try it ingame (with or without wheels, doesn't matter) and scale it to the right size. ------------------ -temporary placeholder for a new cool signature- |

| OK, so it's probably way too small... Is there a way to properly scale it, so that the length, width, height have excactly the same rates after scaling? I don't want my car getting just slightly too high, too long or too wide. EDIT: Hmm, I tried getting it in the game. But it the imgtool tells me it's too big to replace some cars... My dff is 222 kb.. How come that's about the same size as the Flatbed :S Shouldn't my filebe smaller because the model is small? I don't get it... EDIT 2: Well... I got it in game. But I laughed my ass off when I saw the result :D. Well, see for yourself: The car made weird noises as well, like he was crashing all the time. And when you get in, your head sticks out :D. You also don't have ANY grip, you just see the wheels move, but don't move an inch. And it uses the flatbed's colision file, so you colide when you're not even close yet.... But anyway.. I hope it's not that difficult to make the car the right size. And hopefully, I can make the dff-filesize smaller, otherwise I ca't even enter it in the img-file when it's finished :S ------------------ HAHA!!!!! I'll drive you crazy, and I'll KILL you all!!! |

| Despite all this I think the model is pretty fly, the indents on the bonnet and doors looks really smooth and well modelled especially for a first car. Shame its a Mazda shopping trolley from the 90's ;) ------------------ I hope you like me and I fit in with your life. |

| Okay, some solutions to your problems: If you want to replace a file in gta3.img with one that is too big, just delete or rename the old file and add the new one, works perfectly. If you want to resize the whole car in all dimensions, just select all objects, switch on <SEL>, pick the scale tool, hold <ctrl> and left-click on the car. A little box will appear, where you can enter a value in percents. Entering a value > 100 there will increase your car's size. ------------------ -temporary placeholder for a new cool signature- |

| Ah, great. Thanks for the info :) I sure hope everything still fits seemlessly after rescaling, like the doors, bonnet etc. It could mean a lot of work if I get some little differences in the measurements of all the different parts. I had that problem before when I mirrored something. It just didn't fit excactly, you could just peek through an opening between de door and the body. Hope I don't get those kinds of problems again. ------------------ HAHA!!!!! I'll drive you crazy, and I'll KILL you all!!! |

| I've been scaling the car a bit, and changed the location of the wheels, here is the result: I still think it's just a liiitle bit small and the wheels are too small as well. I don't know, but in real life, the mazda's a pretty big car, but if you compare it with the other cars in GTA Vice, the size is rather random. Or maybe American cars are just that big :) Anyway, when you look inside the car, when Tommy's sitting in it, the size seems to be right, because he holds the steering wheel at the right spot etc. Another question: when I make the wheels larger, how do I keep them from going through the road? Or does GTA automatically look up how big the wheels are, and position it at the right place on the road? ------------------ HAHA!!!!! I'll drive you crazy, and I'll KILL you all!!! |

| Looks much better now, the size seems almost appropriate for 626, could be a little bigger. About the wheel issue: If you make your wheels the same size as the ingame wheels in wheels.dff, you can change their size in default.ide, GTA will rescale them for you and your wheels will always touch the ground perfectly. It will look stupid in zmodeler, because the standard wheels are rather large, but will look good ingame. (I think that's the procedure described by dmagic1.) ------------------ -temporary placeholder for a new cool signature- |

| Ah, great :) Thanks for replying so soon :Y I'm gonna work on it tomorrow, because I have to watch football today :) Now the only real problem I'm facing is the skinning, because I don't have good pictures for it. Only photo's where everything looks too shiney. And because I'm crap at painting the skin myself (well, I actually haven't tried it yet, but I'm just crap at drawing), this could be a problem. Anyway, I'm just gonna try of course :) ------------------ HAHA!!!!! I'll drive you crazy, and I'll KILL you all!!! |

I have a full site update on my hard drive at home, but I'm banned from that computer so can't upload it! :#@ ------------------

| Yeah, illspirits car looks cool. But his car can only be one color if he skins it like, can it? I don't want every Mazda which spawns to have the same color. It should be rather random. How do you do that? ------------------ HAHA!!!!! I'll drive you crazy, and I'll KILL you all!!! |

| Use a grayscale skin, and add [prim] to the name of the main body material...this will cause vice city to use the settings in carcols.dat to reshade this material with colors...adding [sec] to a materials name uses the secondary color defined in carcols.dat, good for bumpers or interiors or other small stuff that should come in random colors. ------------------ -temporary placeholder for a new cool signature- |

| Yea, mine's to be one color as it's to serve as a gang car. In theory, my skin could be set to [prim] and the flames would would get a hideous fruit-flavored hue shift after applying carcol's to it. :p If you do a skin like that, make it all greyscale like Fragdieb said, and do it a whole lot lighter as well. For a good example of the VC style, have a looksee at the textures for the original Admiral or Sabre. Those two probably have the simplest UV map setup, so with just a quick glance, you can tell how it wraps onto the model, and the shading is pretty much definitive VC-ism. Merced.txd (below the peds and above the regular cars in the .img) has a slightly higher resolution texture in it which might be helpful, though it is kinda washed out looking. |

| Hmm, thx for all the help. I haven't had very much time lately to make any changes, because of school tests. And I have to work as well this weekend and after work I'm always dead for the rest of the day :D So it's probably monday when I'm starting work again on my car... ------------------ HAHA!!!!!
