I had never touched 3d until last night when i felt inspired. I downloaded ZModeler, followed the tutorial within Azz's tutorial, and came up with this. Im finding 3d rather difficult and real frustrating though- i keep selecting the wrong point to attach new faces with, and everything ends up at weird angles. anyway, its not quite finished, and was wondering what people thought (remember it IS a first attempt!). Also, does anyone else have the same problems as me? Or is it just me? If anyone can offer me any assistance/advice/whatever, please do...

can you guess what it is (without looking at the file name??)

Just keep trying and you should be able to do curves sooner or later.

Looking OK. Needs alot of work.

I started modeling a Yugo. Noone seemed interested in it so I lost interest. I said fuck them and kept going untill I saw someone else making one on gtaforums with a 3d engine! I then deleted zmodeler.

I was going to suggest that it looks more like a Golf :)

But yes, your first attempt at 3D is always hard, just keep playing around with the program and soon you too, can churn out realistic looking vehicles.

Incidentally, I noticed that you just fill the side with polygons. What you should do is use the polygons to shape out the windows and such (using your good blueprints.. you do have some don't you :) ), so texturing is much easier later on.

bloody hell, it cant be too bad if someone actually recognised it! im hoping its gonna be a golf once its finished. Im gonna worry about windows and stuff once i get a bit better at 3d. with this car i just want to do the shape, try and get it in-game and see what it looks like.

thanks for the help

minus the bodykit B)

No, Golf II would have been my guess...Looks almost like the stuff I create for the chassis_vlo model B)

As for your problem selecting the right points: I think ZModelers "user view" is quite cool for that, I usually select the points in this window and place the new point in one of the other views when creating new polies.

I agree with fraqdieb2 with the user view. when i started with Zmodeler the hide/unhide, and place Axis was my best friends which is under Dislpay button.. And always remember any Axis (H,V,D or (X,Y,Z) you choose.. will behave differrently depending on what window (user, Back, front, Top)  that you choose. Good luck.. and if you get stuck never hesitate to ask here, or Refer to them tutorials from Azz. I have every one saved to my drive for Reference. if you keep working with the modeler. I give you two weeks and them curves will no longer be a problem..
