Yesterday, around 12 o'clock. My father, my mother, my grandma and me where travelling on the Autobahn in my mothers car, a 3 year old Opel Astra Station Wagon. My dad was driving the car. We were on the center lane driving about 110-120 kph, when suddenly the lorry/truck on the right lane next to our car started to pull to the left. My dad tried to to avoid it by swerving to the left, steered a bit too hard so that the car started to slide. He tried to countersteer, but then the car got totally out of control, we slided sideways along the left lane, and hit the side rail (?) first with the front, then the right front wheel including suspension ripped off, the car rotated by 180?, and hit the rail again with the rear right corner. The car then continued it's slide on three flat tyres and the ground plate about 100 meters before it came to a halt orthogonally to the traffic direction and blocking right and center lane. By luck, all cars travelling behind us were able to stop without crashing into us or any other cars, and none of us was injured. Though the car was severley damaged on the front and lost a wheel, the safety cell of our Astra was completely undamaged.
The lorry didn't even stop, and unfortunately noone could remember it's license plate or even it's paintjob, as most people behind us were busy with trying to stop their cars.

Near death experiences are always fun.

They make you realise that no matter how far ahead you get in life, you're still human and can be crushed like a bug.

I feel quite good right now, I'm really happy that Me and my family are still alive...only thing that worries me right now is that I have to drive another 800 km tomorrow.

My best mate stacked his Carina at 85 mph last month. Clipped another car while overtaking and hit a tree. Scared me when I found out about it, but he drove the car round next day, and all there was to show for the accident was a tiny dent in the rear wheel arch and some misaligned steering. Lucky fucker.

Not so lucky that he didn't get charged for reckless driving though.  :]

I'll post pics of the car wreck when I return from holidays in two weeks, I took some, but I only had an analogue camera with me, so the pics need to be developed first.

The truck driver probably didn't even notice.
