| Hello folks. This is my first ever news post here but I feel that it really is needed as no one else may have been told this news as of yet. Most of the regulars here know Patrick Russell. He's been here for a very long time and I believe he's one of my few good mates I've made via the Internet. I've never met him, but we get along like old friends. Anyway, basically I am trying to say he's a good character. We've exchanged addresses and phone numbers in the hope that one day one of us will be in the others' city available to finally meet. Anyway, this morning I received a phone call from Patrick's mother, who told me about the bad news. Patrick (Patto to most of us) was involved in a large accident near his home on Friday afternoon on his way home from school involving a large truck and another car. He was in intensive care over the weekend but has made a quick recovery and is on his way to normal life again. However, doctors have advised that he has serious brain damage and as a result will find it very hard to express himself and talk sensibly, especially when pressured. His mother told me if everything goes to plan he should be back here on GTAzz in a day or two, when he feels a little better. When he comes back here you might find him acting a little strange and possibly aggressively. I urge you all to please be very understanding to him at this time of hardship for him and his family and rather than attack him as you might usually do stay back and accept him and his opinions. His mental ability to reason may be severly hindered, but until he can learn to live with this I think we should all try to hold our ground and let him say whatever he has to say. | That is distressing news, patto always seemed like such a passionate rationalist. What saddens me the most is that I got a pang of suspicion about this being an April 1st. My condolences to him. Will be using the forums anytime soon do you know? ------------------

| My condolances goes out to Patrick and his family if this is true, which I hope it's not, but I don't think Alfa would make jokes about such a serious topic as car accidents, because that's really not right. As previously mentioned by others, april 1. would not be the best day to post these news Alfa, because if this is true, then people may not belive it, and therefore might still make fun, or do jokes when he comes back on. I do hope this is a april fools joke though and that Patrick is alright, if this is true though I wish you hadn't posted this on this day or atleast made a comment ensuring us about it NOT being a april fools joke. ?: :( Seriously: Kim Andr? | Now listen up donkey, offcourse we know it's april 1., wtf do you think we are. The reason some of us believe that this might be true is that all of us know and respect Alfadog, now that's something I don't think we can say about you. I don't know about you, but I don't really think jokes about brain-damage in the style of those you just served are funny, how would you like it if someone you knew were hurt in a car accident? Funny? I think not. Sorry if I sound harsh, but that post was both rude and disrespectfull to people that might have had relatives or friends die or get hurt in traffic or other places. Not trying to make you feel guilty,or get a bad concience, but joking about such things just isn't right. Personally, I have had some experienses with traffic accidents. My aunt's boyfriend died in a tunnel fire, after he and a friend, who also lost his life, crashed inside a tunnel on their way home from a fishing trip, I never really knew him, but needless to say my aunt was devestated, some months later she gave birth to his son aswell, he never got to know he would become a father. Seeing the effect it had on her, being a single parrent again (she already had gone through two dissolved marriages, and was the caring parrent for two sons from those), and then loosing someone she loved. Another case is that a couple of years ago, this guy my grandparents know pretty well (his father and mother are their neighbours, and their son often played alongside my previously mentioned aunt's eldest son), was driving a car under the influence of alchohol. He crashed the car, and a 16-17 year old girl who was in the car, was killed. He went to jail for it and is just done serving his time, but he'll have to live with the guilt the rest of his life. Seeing the effect that had on both him, his parents, and the girls family and friends (her cousin is in my class and is a pretty good friend of mine, he was devestated, and broke into tears several times in class in the time following the incident)was terrible. So you can say I have seen the kind of effect it can have on people. Mind you that if this is a april fools prank, and that I'm pretty sure it is, then I don't think any one of us have any hard feelings towards Alfadog, or you donkey, nor am I trying to make you feel bad, I KNOW YOU DIDN'T WANT TO HURT SOMEONE, YOU JUST WANTED TO TRICK PEOPLE FOR A SECOND OR TWO. Humour is important to define who we are, and to make life easier, just wish you would have chosen a better subject for your jokes that's all, people can get emotional scars reopened when reading these things, so I just want to make sure you don't make jokes, bacause people who have had bad experiences with this stuff can get really hurt. :| ------------------ |

| come on fellas, a 3 day recovery? My condolences kab for your acquaintences who have suffered deaths from car accidents. Unfortunately, most of us know of at least one person who has died in a car accident. The truth is 3000 people die every day from accidents involving cars. :*) My story wasn't meant to revolve around the fact that I mentioned a car, it was that Patrick is now demented. I tried to be careful in wording it as I know if someone made a joke about someone committing suicide in a strange/funny way, I would probably be offended myself, from having 2 friends do this to themselves, and one family member. I thank you kab for not becoming aggressive, it's maturity like yours which lets us fool around. let's take a minute of silence for patto's newfounded disability. ------------------ |
