My screen's dead:
http://user.cs.tu-berlin.de/~jaktonn/pics/death_of_p700.jpg

Internal fuse always blows 1 sec after switching this thing on...I don't think I can do anymore for it....Looks like I'll get really drunk today.

Yeah, was only 17", but I'm gonna miss the supersharp and bright image of the Trinitron CRT anyway.

Well, that's actually the size of my monitor, it's not that small, hey... That bottle next to it makes it look much smaller. ;)

Now you have the perfect excuse to buy a projector and make your entire wall a monitor.

i fixed my monitor by replacing a resistor with 2.5W
equal one in the power supply part, but if your fuse
gets burnt be sure you don't have things on circuit
like screws that can fall trough the air-holes on top
    of it..

aniway, the whole thing looks like cold-weld, that
happens when the welding paste gets hot and cold and so on then the link gets some air between and the
whole thing ends up without contact, if you can locate
such welds they are usually on large connectors like
those for the tube (i saw them on a IC as well )

the board is usually dusty so a air-compressor can
help a lot with that ;)

basicly just re-solder those and you are good for
    another 10 years.

just search for any anomalies on the bottom part of
pcb.. and on upper side for things like exploded
    capacitators lol..

Just came home with a 17" TFT...
I already checked all the capacitors on the power supply circuit for short circuits, but found none, and I didn't found any burnt parts after blowing the dust away either, so I guess I can't fix it.

You can put it to good use by throwing it at one of the local chav's if you have any. If not, just explode it and then sell it on Ebay.

I?m starting to dislike peripherals, at home I have to worry about a printer, a network printer, a digital camera, a sidewinder joystick, headphones/speakers, mobile phone charger, a projector and the network itself.

Projectors take a lot of pissing around, just another thing to go wrong. :(
