Havn't posted much about my car lately. Running good, no major problems besides the basic maintinence. Did spark plugs and o2 sensor the other day. Fuel filter is here and just needs to be swapped out. This past weekend I flushed my coolant system for the winter.  Custom made an intake with a Cadillac Deville airbox and pvc. Laugh all you want I enjoyed making it and I also enjoy the sound it makes at WOT. I bought some hubcaps for it.  Small stereo system is all here and just needs for me to install it. Doing my first major project on it. Seat swap! My seats suck. Full bench with fold down armrest, doesn't recline. I have a bad back as it is. New seats are being fitted in from a 90's Pontiac Bonneville. 12-way driver/passenger  power leather seats  front and back. The rear seats have headrests and a center console with cupholders too.

I'm gonna paint it black so it doesn't look so out of place.

Bonneville seats.

They are very comfortable. The seats have an air compressor underneath them. It controls the 3 levels of lumbar support and the side bolster support. It really squeezes you in.

I'll show you guys some pictures when I get them in, I can't wait. The seats I'm getting are Tan and my interior is Grey. These seats are extremely hard to come by so I'm going to color them with a product called SEM. I've read great stuff about it and alot of guys have colored these same seats with it. The cool part about these seats is the controller.

I've got to think of a place to put it since I have no center console... time to get one and install a floor shifter I suppose..

Those seats look cool, nice and comfy and all...although I'd probably fall asleep if drove in such a seat.

Yes, but it's MY Chevy Caprice. You don't even have Caprices over there so you don't know anything about them. They are safe, they are comfortable, they look good and they get good gas mileage for it's size and engine.  You wouldn't believe how many people DAILY ask me if I want to sell my car to them. Smashed up and all.

What the fuck is wrong with the Caprice? It's a godly car, cops drive them, and there is areason for that. Cops have good cars.

And nice seats, man. They are going to be some comfy bastards. As for the control box, you could extende the wires as far as needed, run them under the carpet and attach it to the dash? If you can be bothered.

somehow, i don't think that painting your 'intake' black would help it blend in more. yes, it would match, but the fact that it's still an effing PVC pipe makes it stick out like a sore thumb. that's just retarded...and, surely, it can't be street legal.

you say you 'like the noise it makes at WOT'...i SERIOUSLY doubt that thing can handle an open throttle, much less provide ANY sort of advantage over the stock intake AT ALL.

okay, now that my laughing/rant is done, on to the good!
it IS a nice looking car, especially for a Caprice. and those seats are cool...the seats in my grandmother's Buick look a lot like that, and if you can get past the cheap plastic dash, fake wood, and terrible rattles of the poorly built interior, they are COMFORTABLE. especially if they're heated.

    here's a thought-
have you ever thought about painting it white, and putting a black grill, megaphone and lights on the top? then you could drive around town and yell at people, flashing your lights, and scare the hell out of them.

some redneck that (i think) graduated form my school last year did that, and EVERY TIME he pulled up ANYWHERE near me i would hit the brakes, out of habbit. if i had a Caprice, i bet that's what i'd do.

    and it'd be a hoot.

Just looked closer. Yup, its a pipe. Making it a bit of a waste of time.

Lose the pipe. Buy osme proper stuff, ffs. Also, I like the police car idea. That'd be quite fun.

Disco, do some reading, you will find out the advantages of my engine's retarted sore thumb. Is her Buick a Roadmaster?
    www.geocities.com/thelazydestroyer/caddyintake.html

I'd rather spend the $30 give or take then upwards of $300 for a 'proper' intake.
As you can see here, this intake is made for Chevy TBI motors, which is what I have. But look at the price.

I don't really like the police car idea. The farthest I'd go is cop steelies with chrome center caps. Plus, cops around here never used Caprices. Crown Vic's only.

i hardly think an unofficial half-second gain is worth the laughs you're bound to get with a PVC intake. but, that's me, do whatever floats your boat.

no, her Buick is a LeSabre Limited. i don't remember what year, but it's form the late-nineties. this is her second one, actually, the first one was REALLY COOL, and from the early nineties/late eighties? it was built extrememly well and lasted for well over 300k miles. it still ran when they traded it in for the new Buick, they were just worried it wouldn't last much longer. too bad THIS ONE SUCKS.

oh, too bad for the police idea. stupid Crown Vic's. you should trade your Caprice for one of those.

Trade a caprice for a crown vic? Why would he do that? Chevy any day.

Hmm, I suppose hte pipe idea may well work, but no denying it looks gay. But if it works, well... use it. Just grab some of that flexi metal hose stuff, it'd look better. And help cool the air more.

Aren't you afraid that the heat of the engine (especially from the exhaust manifolds) will melt or damage the PVC tube?

Hundreds of people have done this modification and all have reported positive things. Nobody said the pipe melted so I think it's fine.

I say good for you. It's not a car that would suit me, but I think it's cool you can do like budget mods. When I eventually get a new one I'd like to learn enough to play around with it. I daren't touch my current one; there's something about owing over 6 grand on a car that makes you a little more sensitive.

You're thinking of the mongs in their 1.2 ltr Vauxhall Nova's.
A 1.6 is expensive to insure.

She is cheap to bed though.

Also, a 1.6 Bluebird will cost the same to insure as a fiesta! So I am going to try to get one.
