I've played thru LIberty City and noticed that the Columbian Cartel Leader that was tied up & was undergoing torture on one of the upper levels of unfinished building does bear a close resembalnce  to Donald Love if you study their faces closely. I was wondering if he was a twin or this was just undeliberate. A coinincidence. I thought it worth mentioning.

Right now I amplaying thru Vice City and had just finished the mission ' Two-Bit Hit ' & wouldn't you know it' there is Donald Love looking much younger than he did in Liberty sitting next to Avery.

Is this a deliberate mistake.cause he really appears to be a younger less wiser man here. Unless it's his son with the same name.

I though liberty was set in the seventies and like wise Vice is set during the mid eighties.

I konw it's possible for character to survive that time period and to appaer in both games, it's just that he has appeared to  have gone thru as time warp & come out much younger in the second game. ( Yeah, I know it's really the fourth game!)

He must be a Time Lord otherwise.

    Vice City - 80's
Liberty City - current time, not 70's

Yes, that is the younger Donald Love in Vice.

That would expalin it. I had always thought that Liberty happened a decade before Vice city though.

So, when is San Andreas set. Cause, I naturally thought it to be at around about now, or the mid ninties..

Baring in mind I haven't played it yet.

GTASA is set in 1992.  GTAVC is set in 1986.  GTA3 was set around 2001 (present day when it was released).  GTALCS is set a little before GTA3, I'm not sure by how much, only a few years I expect.

I think GTALCS is set a few years before SA, around 1989.

LCS is set in 1998.  There's many references to the internet and Y2K in the game.

Not having the game I wouldn't know about that. I actually read somewhere that it's set 3 years before GTA3, don't know why I said before SA  confused

Do they mention a GTA1-like game in LCS?  That would be funny. tongue

Btw, Sektor, how do you know it's 1998?  I couldn't find anything about the year the game is set in on the offocial LCS website...

There is a sign in the game that scrolls the text "GRAND THEFT PORTO - OUT NOW", could be a reference to one of the older GTA games or self advertisement.

1998 is the date on every email on the site, some of the teaser sites have (c) 1998 at the bottom, www.crowfest98.com and the news page says 1998.

      1998

"In less than a week, you?ll be whipping around the streets of Liberty City, circa 1998.

As we hurtle towards this landmark handheld release, we present today?s update to the official site, which includes another release of archived emails sent to the Liberty Tree back in ?98, containing new and exclusive screens, clips, audio and more."

LOL, awesome!  The GTP is a brilliant double-pun, since it refers both to LCS on the PSP and the first "Grand Theft Auto" released in 1998.  Yay for R*! laugh

OK, I'm convinced that it's set in 1998.  The information was on their site, I was just too dumb to find it.

GTA3 (liberty city with Fido) in the 70s? Are you high? All you have to do is look at the cars, or the references to websites on fake advertisements anywhere, or listen to the radio, and it should be obvious that it's set in the "present".
