I would wager that although it's not set in Iraq, that idea has pretty much been taken with Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. All that needed was camels.

I guess the GTA game designers in Scotland would rather make the games based in the U.S., since it gives them the opportunity to poke fun of us over here.  biggrin
It's just so easy to do.. XD

They still slipped in the odd U.K. oriented terminology and slang. laugh

While we're on the list of places with record-high car theft rates, a great real-life locale they could make the next GTA - if they wanted to stay in America -would have to be Sacramento and its neighbor cities.

The player could start off in run-down Stockton and make his way to glory in the crime world of California's (or San Andreas'?) state capital, blazing through happy suburban Modesto on the way up. The area's also been known to be the most ethnically diverse place in the world, making for a nice plethora of gang choices.

If all else fails, there's always the opportunity to run down conga lines of Hare Krishnas outside the Governator's Palace just for kicks (and bonus points if you use the Manana instead of the Linerunner.)

You should start out in Fresno, take 99 up through Modesto into Stockton. Then get on 88 heading twords Jackson on your way to Tahoe. Go up 395 into Reno for some gambling and legalized prostitution outside of city limits. You can then take 80 back into Sacramento.

That actually sounds like a fun weekend, except for the Fresno part.  smilewinkgrin
