Since I knew of their existance (thanks Will!), I needed to have them: Chinese faked Lego military kits... and now my flatmate found some in Bangkok... here are some pics:

Air craft carrier, the top of the range model. Overall length is about 3 feet, and the rockets can be launched by a spring mechanism. There were stickers for the flight deck markings included, but we haven't applied them yet. The whole kit was more than 1000 bricks and took 4 hours to build.

Jeep, tank, and military building. Camouflage bricks are a definite must. The tank can fire small plastic sticks through its gun.

More warships. The Hovercraft came with the aircraft carrier (though totally out of scale compared to it). The warship has got a gun mechanism similar to the tank.

Pics are done rather quick and dirty, got to do a proper setting and dome some better ones, or maybe a small brick flick, but that will take some time.

hehe, that carrier is possibly the best thing ever.

Had a rummage around tinterweb to see what I could find. Came up with this website. Carries some really cool stuff,  loving the tanks and the anti aircraft doodad.

Apparently the other one to look for is Cobi / Best Lock.

Yeah, like that Bruce Lee fellow. Boy, like that hadn't been done before.

Christ, I used to have such fun with lego. Mainly making cars that I'd build and then smash to bits by rolling them really hard into walls, feet, the cat, anything I could find.

Jesus I that Jeep, that exact one with the exact ripoff lego men, and I still remember the day I got it for some strange reason, impulse item at the register ? in the fucking 90?s.

Can?t believe they are still churning out the same designs.

live... liveeeee.

Ahem. Just a little thread necromancy to mention I was just in ASDA this morning and they've started stocking the Cobi stuff, if anyone is inspired to buy any lego tanks :)

I couldn't resist a funky little tank for 6quid.

That is all.

Very true.
But as much as I hate the Chinese stealing everything (like the very engineering IP I try to create), I applaud them for making big models with simple pieces.  Remember when the big Lego kits were mostly parts that you could use to build other things -- like cars, houses, etc?  Now it seems there are only specialized parts for specific models.
Now if only they'd start copying the old-skool Technic parts...then I'd really be interested.

It does float - I once had a Lego pirate ship and it floated well in the bath. Lego rules!

And that's the question...

I agree with Bubenator, that Lego isn't as good, as years before... Those parts, that when you look at it you might not guess, that this is Lego brick... But, this is pure buisness - if you cannot modify it at your own, you have to buy new one - and then some extra "idea book" or how it is called, where they show step-by-step hot to utilize those funky bricks from few sets into something interesting...

BTW I own one set from Cobi - they don't stick as good as Lego's, they have little diffrent colours and that plastic - they are harder, cannot bend and often crack

Once I tried to build one of those chinese "Lego" - it was impossible to even make what they showed in manual - bricks were deformed and doesn't stick at all...

All the stuff I posted at the beginning of this topic are kits labeled "Enlighten Brick". The build quality was better than expected, a bit harder to put the bricks together sometimes, but they stick together quite well. The black and grey bricks are quite close to the original colour, as dark green/camouflage bricks do not exist by LEGO, they're incomparable. The red bricks, yellow (heads) and the transparent pieces (lights etc) are quite different to the original colours. Manual wasn't that easy to understand, but still usable. My flatmate who brought all this stuff has found some more now, one kit branded "Ligao", which has a rather poor quality with bricks that don't really stick together and a manual that consists of black and white photos with coloured parts instead of the usual drawings.

Enlighten brick appears to be the beest copy of Lego, good qaulity bricks, noit up to lego standard, but stil quite good. They fit together mostly, some of them are dodgey, but mostly fdine.

I loved finding that shit, bonus on holiday if you ask me. I want mor of it, might order someoff that site Azz posted!

    Ahem, apologies for the above.

China doesn't use F14's, but as the little men have M16's, who cares? IT IS MILITARY LEGO. China doesn't even have a serviceable aricraft carrier yet for fucks sake. If lego reflected reality, we'd all be driving these.

Why would china WANT F14's is the question.
