I think they do quite a good job (game developers at least) for the most part - I've only played a few games that you actually CAN'T complete without a patch (Vampire: Bloodlines, Joint Opperations, KOTOR2). IF only they didn't need to make profit, we'd get 100% finished unbroken games. We'd also wait five years for each one.
I like this happy compromoise. Most of the time bugs can be amusing. Especially when someones face turns inside out.
Yeah, but haven't you noticed how this is escalating though? My N64 games never needed patching. Yes, games are getting more complicated, but so are the tools being used to make them.
On the other side of this argument though, one awesome thing about games being online is the fact that some developers release additional free content every now and then. That's always nice to have. |
