SHIT YOUR PANTS.

And, just in case...

Ahem, now I'm done scrubbing the sticky white stains out of my pants, lets discuss.

I'm liking the looks of this already. For one thing, lovely graphics. Not too much of a leap ahead, but not stuck in the past either. Another thing, the humour and the general style doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. Through some pausing and close inspection, I've spotted a few of the usual trademarks. Obviously, Liberty City, Cluckin' Bell, Sprunk and so on. Finally, the thing that's got me in a lather...

Yes, it appears you play as a scruffy looking russian ruffian who sounds like he's just stepped out of GTA2. I like the looks of this, a lot.

Not quite as good looking as "Pizza Tycoon", but it'll do.

Looks really good, although I'm a bit sad that it's not set in London.

I liked the building with the "Getalife" sign.  cool

Looks pretty tasty.

Am I being too optimistic in saying it had a slight Mafia feel to it? The sweeping shots, the classical music, the melancholoy voice over.

Lots of interesting stuff to see. "I slept with your mom", sounds like a great film. Got to admit I'm very concerned about the cheese crisis, hope it doesn't last. Poor cheddar.

They obviously seem very proud of their weather/daynight system, the sun changes position and colour in almost every shot. Very moody.

lol, Liberty Tree banner in the busy shot, "yesterday's news today". fantastic.

Everything has a real sense of scale, something that was present in a few places in SA. Wonder if they're going for high instead of wide and flat like SA?

I'm not the biggest source of knowledge on american cars, but I recognise quite a few. One in the first shot was a mustang, right? There's also that chrysler you can get over here (300C?).

If one was going to point out potential problems (moi? never), the shot of the bridge with the cable car doodad in the middle, six vehicles in shot, 4 taxi cabs, same model, 2 box trucks, same model. Let's hope they just haven't finished the rest, since that "feature" of the last three games has been a pain in the arse. You spend hours scouring the city looking for a particular model to finish your export doodad, then every fucker is driving one. bah.

That first shot looks just like a part from the second liberty city in GTA3, just below St Marks Bistro. Not sure how accurate that LC was or how closely this one will mesh? Don't really know much of New York I suppose.

Looks good though, fingers crossed the storyline is shit hot.

At first I was really disappointed. I mean, it looked amazingly good - far greater than I was expecting really. Thing is though, I re-watched the first San Andreas trailer, than this, and the SA trailer felt more...like a first trailer should. IV's trailer was more just to show that, yes, "Things will be different".

Still, after thinking about it all through work I want it. A lot. Here's hoping the next trailer will show a little more gameplay  wink

Another GTA game in New York, America? Fucking hell, what a disappointment!

Nice they are proud to show what how they steal ideas from us determined hackers by showing a rollercoaster at the start. Solo made a rollercoaster for Fun World years ago.

3D broken road surfaces is very cool. Roads which were textured to look crap in GTASA were still smooth to drive on, so this will be a nice touch.

Oh yeah, ferries are something we proposed in Myriad Islands at least a year ago.

The bridge textures look like hi-res versions of the suspension bridge in GTA3. The dockyards are just GTA3's with more polies thrown at them. They are even using the same type of boxy crane!

At least the seagulls actually make noise now...unless that's just special effects for the trailer. I wouldn't expect the game to look as good as the video, btw. Remember what previous R* promotional stuff has been like.

My first impressions are that this is a huge disappointment. A crime game in New York is just GTA1 Chapter one for the fourth time. It's just lazy, isn't it? (GTA3 and the Liberty City mission in GTASA (where they stole the snowy NY idea from modders) make up the other two.)

I'm guessing the next trailer will be from a totally different city, maybe Rome. If it's just NY, then I won't be buying this. Even if it comes out on PC (which it probably won't). Fingers crossed for the next trailer.

If you click "Trailer Files" you can download a hi-definition version of the trailer. The windows media version comes out at 66MB and uses 1280x720 resolution. It ran like crap for me, but maybe you guys with your beasty machines will have more luck.

Cerb. Sorry to pick on this but R* did Liberty City first in GTA1. Stop with the "They stole that!!!!" idea please.

Anyway. I think the Graphics looks far better. I like the idea of playing a Russian Mobster because the Russian Mafia are mental are hard, and they do mad stuff. Here's hoping for a mission to sell a Submarine to Columbians.

Lazy? I think not. I would like GTA to remain as much like GTA as possible, with new technology. I think the transition to 3D lost something, and I want it back. That replay factor. Too much new stuff and you lose what you are trying to be. I like GTA's cities, they are nice. Maybe GTA Moscow or London (again) would be a new twist, or even Bejing. (The Chinese police could be really brutal, and add a new twist to gameplay!). But there is a limit, and moving it somewhere else could make it shit. So I'll allow this.

SA was a big dissapointment for me in a way. I did like it - alot - but I wish is was more like SA in GTA1, map-wise, and mission wise. That was my favourite level, and I think the 3D version was'nt as good, but was good in its own way.

Well, at least I know 4 isn't going to be GTA2 3D. I want that to happen.

I love this idea that Rockstar "stole" ideas from Myriad Islands, of all things.

Myriad Islands is, and always will be, a load of amateurish badly-textured shit. A good idea ruined by the fact that few people have the time or talent to produce anything even approaching the standard of a modern games developer.

Get a job.

Now I wish they'd release it for PC first instead of having to cripple everything and dumb it down for consoles.

Oh well. Looks sexy. And the main character is brilliant, definitely very different from the ones in previous games.

GTA3 was hardly new york, it looked nothing like the main metro and I can fully understand them wanting to do ?a big city?  feel game.

The official trailer didn't say much, did it? I'd like to know more about the plot.

I got what I wanted from the trailer... it confirmed that it's NYC or Liberty or whatever you want to call it.

Also think it's a good thing GTA4 will be set present day (as far as I can tell from the cars and such) and the russian dude will be excellent in the lead role. I never did like CJ really.

Fo shizzle my god damn nizzle, that trailer looks good. In my opinion, it looks like they've finally got NYC right. GTA3 to me lacked a real NYC feel, given it was too small and tried too put too much in one area. That and the best part was the first island, which you coudln't go back to without getting your head blown off...

And to answer the above, it was hardly going to be set in London, with a new Getaway game in development. Tokyo would have been nice though. I wouldn't be suprised though if the shot of the stock market means you can now buy stocks. Yay, gimmicks!  ^-^ /
