So whilst we've been away Top Gear has returned for another series.

It's not bad, the daft stunts are less daft than previously. Worth watching just for Clarkson talking to Olivier Panis. "I mentioned Agincourt once, but I think I got away with it" hehe.

That new jag they tested was a bit tasty, the xfr I think (struggle to keep up with jag names). If I was at the point of buying a fifty grand car I'd be very tempted. Maybe next year rodders.

Anyone watching, or have you all grown sophisticated in my absence?

No fear, I don't think any of us can pull off sophisticated to save our lives.

I've been enjoying Top Gear, I don't honestly think they could ever do a "bad" show. If there are bad ones, it's because the challenge didn't interest me or whatever. Speaking of which, I did lose a little interest once the Capri died off this week. I'm actually quite keen on how the challenges have gone from "racing a jet across France" or whatever, to three blokes in some knackered old rear wheel drive cars, being twats. Or the Post Office challenge, or even the car vs. bike vs. train thing.

Cheap Alfa Romeo challenge episode...

I haven't hated this season that much at all. I downloaded the whole thing but haven't watched them in their entirety, just mostly fast forwarded past the talky bits, but no, it certainly seems much better than it has been! Very enjoyable car reviews, less stupid slapstick, huzzah huzzah.

Last one I saw was the Vietnam special, still good as ever, I like the non car related shenanigans as long as it's not scripted.

Very enjoyable. Shame next week is the last in the series!

That beamer is the car I'm eyeing up next. In a couple of years I'll be trading mine in, and should be able to pick up a two year old z4 for a decent price.

Unless I get a pay rise and I'll buy something shinier :)

Last episode was quite cool, but what's disturbing is that it was the third "used cars for a bit of money" feature this season. Are they running out of ideas that much?

I don't mind that at all. Those are often my favourite episodes.

Definitely. Pretty sad that the season is over again already, but at least it ended with a pretty nice episode.

S'bugger we do such short series over here. Although they do seem to be on about three seasons every couple of years or so.

Good stuff, Jay Leno was cool which is surprising because I find him quite grating on his own show.

Not sure what to watch on sundays now though.

It's back on this weekend...in a couple of hours actually.

I enjoyed the interview with Jay Leno as well. When they were reading through his car collection (page 1 of 3!) it was just incredible...I didn't realise he was rich enough to own all those exotics. They were well-chosen, too. And his genuine love of cars was really apparent.

I wonder what Wintry specials they'll have this series? I enjoyed the Toyota Igo (or was it Yaris?) ice hockey, made a change from car football. Oh, and the race between a bobsleigh and a WRC Evo! The Arctic Special as well

There's so many epic features it's easy to forget how many great things they've already done!

Yeah I just found out it's on tonight. This is a Good Thing for sure.

Fingers crossed it doesn't descend into the sillyness of a couple of series ago..

I watched a repeat of the Winter Games episode of Top Gear last night; to me this is the golden era of Top Gear, no over the top rehearsed pranks, just the 3 blokes messing about and then going to the pub between awesome car stunts.

I'm not sure what to think about the latest episode... it was entertaining and I never felt bored watching it, but there wasn't a real highlight as well, when I try to remember something special from it now, there's nothing that sticks out, apart from the awesome landscape shots in the end.

The hosts are an issue. Not a bad program, just someone needs to break their collective shins with a mallet.

Whut? hush your mouth, Jezza is the king of all that is. Highly unlikely given who he writes for, red rag oik he is.

It's just a little.. cliched now I guess, the way they always sabotage their own tasks. Was much funnier when you genuinely believed they tried and failed miserably. Now they just seem like set ups for the slapstick humour.

Still enjoyable though.
