So last night my antivirus/firewall (comodo) wanted to update, so I let it. Then it wanted to restart, and I didn't let it. But it decided to unload itself before asking anyway.

And of course, in the next twenty minutes my computer puckered it's arsehole to the world and got duly invaded. I picked up a few minor trojans, but the annoying ones are the search hijackers. You go to google, search for something, click the link, and end up in China... fuckers.

I've used Spybot S&D and AdAware but issue still seems to remain.

Any other software I should use? I'll run a virus scan tomorrow and see if that pulls anything, but it rarely detects these sorts of things.

Internet sucks.

Try Malware Bytes and Superantivirus (looks like a spyware site itself don't worry).

I only use Microsoft Security Essentals with Windows 7. Too lazy and cheap to use mainsream anti virus. I've not really had any problems unless I'm in the mood for Amputee porn. Then the internets gets nasty.

Yes, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware worked wonders on my gf's totally malware-infested computer. She had one of those wierd search hijacker and url redirector bots as well, I wasn't even able to reach any antivirus site from her computer ad all, I would always end up in China.

If that won't do it, check the running processes on your computer (ctrl-alt-del) for suspicious names and google for them on another computer to see if they are malicious processes.

amputee porn you say? interesting..

That's the annoying thing, I know exactly what all 26 processes running on my computer are. These things tend to live in temporary file folders and make a nuisance of themselves. S&D and AdAware are now coming up clean, but when I booted this morning Comodo caught something trying to load in from temp. Damn it.

Ironically I already had MalwareBytes Anti Malware installed, just couldn't remember why or if it was worth a go. I shall update and give it a whirl now. Death to the bastards!

Disk clean-up of HDD couldn't hurt either? Would purge the shite in the Temp Folder which could help.

I've got a mac, but that doesn't really help me fix windows now does it?

Anywho found it. Something had modified ws2_32.dll and was making a mockery of my clicking. Tis resolved, after much swearing.

So many forums out there to help and they're all "post a hijack this log and we'll take a look". Might just be my paranoia, but I'd have thought posting a complete break down of everything installed on your computer and a list of potential exploits isn't the most secure of practices? hrm

    All good. ta
