I've found a donor frame for my 911. Can you decode the VIN and give me the low down?

I need to make sure I can section this frame to repair mine.

THANKS BUDDY

According to the website I used last time, this should be a
- 911 (911)
- built in 1970 (0),
- fitted with the 911 E Engine (2),
- targa body (1)
- number 0399 built

I don't think this is a good choice as a body parts donor, as Porsche redesigned parts of the body in 1973. This is especially noticable if you compare the pre-1973 front bumper and indicators to the 73-89 models (sometimes called the G-model), also the later cars have wider flared fenders:

I'm not sure wether and how well the other body parts are interchangeable, so it would probably be better to find the later body as a parts donor for your car.

It's got a bunch of slantnose parts on it now, but it looked a little hobbled together.

I've got the body parts I need, I just need to section two parts of the floorboard from the frame. I don't know if they're interchangeable or not.

The donor body is only $650 - I might as well get it and measure it and see.

The slantnose parts are worth more than that, I'm sure.

Could this thing have been a slantnose from the factory?

It can't be a factory slantnose, as the slantnose body option wasn't offered before 1981.

EDIT: Measuring the body parts you need could be a good idea, if they fit, you could jsut buy the body and try to sell the parts you don't need.

Oh yes, the Singer 911 ... awesome car and it definitely has more of the true 911 spirit than the current ones Porsche sells, but $300,000 for one will probably make them expensive collector's items. That will probably mean they won't get much use as what they were meant for, ultimate driving machines.
