Hello,

at first sorry about my english, it's not really good.  And second, I'm not sure is GTA1 mod scene totally dead(??), I hope not..

Anyway, here's my problem:

I've done pretty big map in GTA1.  Works really fine when I'm playing it with GTA8.EXE.  But when I'm playing it with Windows-version of GTA (WINO), it crashes in one place at map.
Crash place is really normal place, nothing serious there. I tried to replace that place with only normal pavement and with no special flags, didn't help.  Mission.ini has nothing related to that place.

WINO doesn't say anything, it just crashes.  I've also noticed that during playing, some cars are just exploding for no reason -- again, in Windows version.
Now I played some custom map found from Gouranga.com.  There was a readme with map, owner said there that he/she had  these problems too.

Is this known bug/problem and is there any way to fix this?  Is my CMP-file broken somehow?  I hate to play with WINO so I play with GTA8.EXE, but it would be great if my map would work on Windows-version too!

Greetings,

pmw.

It isn't totally dead hopefully. :)

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem but I remember the good old days when I mapped in Junction25 that sometimes you needed to "compress" the map by selecting a large part of the map (i mean like the whole map) in Junction, copy everything and paste it in the same place. Then the map was compressed. This solved the issues I had with maps becoming laggy and buggy over time.

Yeah good plan, I remember having to do that a couple of times with Somewhere when I was working on that.

Mod scene for gta1 is pretty much done, you're the first person I've heard actively working on something in a long while. There's still quite a few people around, though whether they can remember enough to be helpful is another matter :)

Good luck with the map though.

You should try re-compressing the map, save it with m1win or force re-compression in j25 (zoom out completely, select, copy and paste to same area as big chunk of map as possible to trigger full re-compression)

I tried to copy&paste whole map but it didn't work.

I solved this by taking older version of my map from backups, and copypasted new sections from buggy map file to older version. Now it works.

Thanks anyway!!
