It's a pity though, in my opinion San Francisco (assuming they kept it pretty much how it was in GTA) would have made a much better 3d city than Liberty or even Vice.

Police chases down all those steep streets, helicopters under the Golden Gate? It would have rocked...

GTA SanFrancisco? I've actually riden around there. It's nothing like you see in movies. there's always road work going on, so the whole city is a concitrated trafic jam. Although I've always wanted to jack one of them cable cars.

I tihnk the major downfall with GTa3 and VC is the speed the car are driving... they're going like 5 mph, you can run and keep up...

In the getaway they're doing real speed, so whgen you get hit you die! See, much mroe realistic and better, and it's not any harder to steal a car in the Getaway... It's easier even because if the cops do come you can just floor it, unlike the 3D GTA's.

San Fransico + 1970s = HELL YEAH (think Steve McQueen, lol)

now there's a good idea: a 1970's san andreas gta3. mqueen the man himself could do the voice over for the main character.

but i still think they should do a london 1960's gta3. seeing as a 1990's/new millenium one has been done (in the form of The Getaway, which will hopefully come to PC).

I honestly didn't like the Getaway.

I think making the cars faster wouldn't be such a great idea, can't you get from one side of the island to the other quick enough?  GTA was never about true realism anyway.

I'm all for 1970's SA though, it'd be fantastic.

Isn't this in the wrong forum?
And isn't it a bit pointless to speculate over this?
And aren't I being a nuisance? :Y

I'd like to see something radically different, set in the Oreint.  Either modern-day S.E. Asian corporations and protection rackets (Ziabatsu from GTA2 type deal) or modern Tokyo style, with monorials, neon lights, sabotaging their industries for the US to monopolise the tech market, or helping the Japanese in stopping the US from doing such things.

Scillian backstreets, Tokyo flyovers, Australian outback - the narrow streets and snowy hills of Monte Carlo!

Or just anywere more stylish than you generic US city... :|

What the hell, I just got The Getaway, (only because it was a second-hand copy.) I once had a go on it and hated it. Now I cant get enough of it.

Anyways, I would like to see GTA San Andreas. It would be cool to jump lines of traffic and zip over hills like a demented moron.

I take it you've not driven around the Mafia area in Portland, then? :]

Yeah, but they brought him back for the Ford Puma advert, so surely anything is possible? ;-)

Why has no one thought of a Bullit computer game? It would rock.

Scully, I was in San Francisco in December and I thought it was quite like the movies. The streets are steep, we walked four blocks up Washington and I was fair knackered by the time I got to the top, but then I was carrying all manner of touristy things.

Lombard street is fun though :)

The trams are cool, we got to ride on the back with the driver, which was cool going down hill but hairy going up one, you gotta hang on. My advice would be not to take one back from Union Square to Fishermans Wharf at 4pm on Christmas eve though, it was so crushed it made the London Tube seem empty, and it smelled and took about 40 minutes with all the stopping :p

<G> I wish they would make Gta Forssj?, the village where I live :p It would be cool though....

Never mind.
I hope Rockstar will make Gta: San Andreas.
Just imagine to fly down the streets wit a '74 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with the coppers sniffing up your arse.
And this time I want my Rubber Duck truck with trailer connected!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, you don't want a '74, if you really want to be Steve McQueen you want a '68 GTA390 Fastback, Highland Green if you want to be really authentic, but I'd much rather have it in black.

You can't tell me this is better than this. Ignore the Saleen in the background, that smells :)

If you care for more info check out the pony page. It's pretty interesting.

paul, I know the geography shown in movies based in San Francisco are correct. But what I meant was that you can't drive down the street at 50mph jumping hills. Mostly because the public transit drivers spend their lunch hour on Height st. getting stoned.  X|
