Went exploering in the Futo last night, found some awesome dirt tracks out near the 'rebel' bar:

Re: GTA V

Now starting to approach the level of smart fashion Umberto deserves. I like to think people are a bit annoyed when they get killed by someone who looks like this.

0_0.jpg

Umberto is a friend of all shopkeepers.

0_0.jpg

Umberto visits the sewers.

0_0.jpg

Umberto visits a street walker.

It got foggy for a bit, that was weird.

And here's the offline game.

Re: GTA V

Is anyone else finding it hard to get any decent money going in GTA: O.

Missions / death match might get you 1,000 or so if you win, but 200 rounds for a sub machine gun costs that much.

The most I have ever had is around 4,000 and that all disappeared pretty quick.

I'm guessing a-lot of the people who own apartments or 10 car garages bought them with 'real world dollars'

Still getting the hang of online mode, only today just figured out that there is an 'interaction menu'

Re: GTA V

I've found the best thing to do is generally ignore the missions and focus on stealing the cars on Simeon's list (it marks you as a target on the map, but in my experience most people are too wrapped up in shooting each other and it generally gets you about $10K for a few minutes work), also steal luxury SUVs every real-time hour or so and sell them at the spray shop (gets you about $5-9K).

If someone's got a high bounty on them it's often worth a shot too, just watch them from a distance first and see if they have much of a brain. Motorbikes offer a considerable advantage if they're in a car, you can just shotgun them through the windows and ride away up some hills before they respawn nearby.

Re: GTA V

My roomate and I have been completing this one survival map over and over for the last couple of days giving us $20,000 if we complete all 10 rounds. I think it's the junkyard map but I'm not entierly certain. If I'm on this weekend I'm down to play a few rounds - we should try and get 2 more people just to make it a breeze.

Yeah I think I'm going to have my personal vehicle a bike now, the drive by shotgun option is pretty powerful.

Re: GTA V

I'm liking the "random but not so random" encounter missions where you see a little dot blinking on your radar and then can enter into a special mission for someone. They often turn out to be a special character though, so i am guessing there isn't an unlimited number of them (unless it's just a generic mugging one).

Not really done any missions yet as just played on my brother's save. Was playing some Trevor mission where you have to blow up some air field and then fly some arms to some guy in a boat before trying to land the plane! Seems like an early mission, though the plane seems very strange and hard to control - not in a "it's realistic way" but more because it seems to rotate really strangely and not around it's centre when you try and roll it to turn.
Surely this is not realistic? (someone with plane or flight sim experience clue me up, i'm guess frag?) Either way, it makes it quite hard to do subtle movements!

That said the thing i'm least impressed with is the driving which is kind of sad cos that has always been the best part of the game for me. In previous games i would just enjoy driving around and exploring but they've taken all depth out of driving that it really isn't even fun anymore.
Even in gta 3 and those era of games, the driving had more to it - the cars felt different and you were worried about flipping the vans! They had personality.
Now everything is just lifeless.
I guess the people that cried about the really improved gta iv handling won, which is sad really because i was quite impressed with what they did in gta iv, they certainly added more depth to it.
Motorbikes are really strange in this too, they seem to turn like cars and just feel really odd.

So yer, the world it'self is cool and impressive but them dumbing down the driving has kind of put a downer on the game for me. I mean it will be nice to play through the story when i finally get around to it, but i can't see myself just driving around for enjoyments sake like i could with the other games.
In that sense i suppose i am rather disappointed.

The thing is the reviewers say the driving is "improved" but then i get the impression with most reviewers is that they don't actually enjoy driving games at all and just see the driving in gta as a bit of a chore so want it as easy as possible. Now we've got to the stage where you rarely even have to take your finger off of full throttle.

It's strange because the shooting mechanics seem quite unforgiving and yet the driving is completely brainless and without depth.

I can't belive you've done this.

If you fail them, they re-appear after a while, also, there is a percentage counter for them in the stats, so the number seems to be fixed and scripted.

The planes behave a bit odd, but I attribute that mostly to the controls being mapped completely different than a flight sim would do it. No filightsim with a realistic approach would require you to constantly keep the triggers pressed for throttle, instead they use a throttle setting that maintains it's value and can be adjusted up or down. Instead, the rear rudder usually uses an analog input. I also find it difficult to fly a plane from a 3rd person camera, as it's harder to see how the plane is aligned regarding the horizon.

I'm not a big fan of the car handling either, but I wouldn't consider it a big show-stopper for me, the car physics in Just Cause 2 isn't really the strongest point of the game either, but it's still massive fun to just roam through the country side.

Re: GTA V

It's a great game man, I like to switch between online and off, both equally good in their own ways.

Took me awhile to warm up to online my only gripe is that content is locked off for lower level characters.

BTW did/does anyone play GTA: IV online now that I have Xbox live again I might check out GTA: 4's multiplayer, I remember IGN saying it was quite good.

I'm sure the cars will feel like they have jelly wheels now though.

Re: GTA V

Last night I just managed to save up enough for the $227K (approx.) apartment and 10 car garage. Spent most of my stimulus on the Vacca - ordering it and tricking it cost pretty much all I had. 2na and I also tried our hand at darts and he kicked my ass. After that we tried fucking with some guys but one chased us down in his Buzzard and killed us both.

Well, I got my money, so I bought a 10-car apartment (one of the cheapest ones, the $205K one I think). Now I can fill it with absolutely ridiculous vehicles at my leisure.

Re: GTA V

My brother is a fucking badass racer dude.

I'm watching him do a one on one, quick under-a-minuite race and he's all like, "No, I shan't be ramming him off the road, that's not fair racing." He gets in front, and the moment he does, the other guy attempts to smash him off the road. "Alright then, play it that way." he mutters, whacks on the brakes and does this amazing reversal where he pits the guy and speeds off.

His player character is basically a cowboy drag queen. I can't imagine how annoying it'd be to lose to that.

Re: GTA V

gtav_08.jpg

Yesterday while playing online I went out looking for a Sandking, so I set out to Blaine County. I was driving up a road west of Grapeseed and came across a Karin Rebel (turns out this truck's rare to find online). Took it to LSC and it had some pretty sweet nice off-road mods but I couldn't buy anything for it, including insurance, but I decided to hang on to it. Maybe a half hour later I'm in freemode with my friend and some dick in a Buzzard's chasing me down and blows the truck up. I then spent the rest of the day driving up and down these few roads by Sandy Shores looking for the truck to no avail. I did, however, find a Bobcat twice and a Ratloader a few times, woo.

I have the Obey Tailgater (Michael's car) that's my only rare one. It spawns in the car park behind the Vespucci Beach tennis court, just do a solo mode game, grab a helicopter and keep flying there and away and back again until it spawns.
