I'm curious to see how quickly iCeenhancer can be applied to it.

As well it's not that great looking, still looks nice, but y'know.

Re: GTA V

I bet anything that those are just GTA IV running the San Andreas mod with some tweaks.

Re: GTA V

Oh? How come the official website still only has the trailer and 0 screenshots? If anything those screenshots should be there of all places. What's your source?

Edit: I see they link back to rockstars site. When did these get released?

Edit 2: Oh.

I find it weird that there is no exact release date and day for GTA on the interwebz.

Some years ago I tried to make a timeline of GTA release dates. Got quite a few, then got bored.

I, too, am totally sick of GTA revisiting the same old locations. Gave up after San Andreas because it simply couldn't be beaten.

BenMillard wrote:

Chunky mitten hands aside, everything in GTASA is done for a reason. 3 out of the 4 notable locations had not been in a previous GTA title; the character had a totally different background and the subject matter was more emotive.

The LA riots over corrupt police officers. Paranoid counter-intelligence during the messy end of the Cold War. Multi-cultural gang violence. Street racing with cars that would be at home in the original Gran Turismo. Protecting your 'hood, your friends, getting filth rich in the hope of redeeming yourself in the eyes of your big brother.

The story and the setting is what made GTASA feel new, atmospheric and plain awesome. Beating that requires a bigger leap forwards than what the movie industry would call a 're-make'.

GTASA is the biggest an action game can get, imho. Anything bigger will become World of Warcraft.

Internet connections are getting good enough for an action-packed MMORPG to be viable... except when you consider synchronising all the traffic and law enforcement AI between 16+ players. GTA2 only became viable doing this with a mere 4 to 6 well-connected, nearby players, about 10 years after the game was released.

GTA4 should have been GTA2 inspired, set in 2050 Tokyo or somesuch. With that opportunity missed, GTA5 was that chance. Again, it's been missed.

Famously, GTA has billboards saying "TRUE GRIME" as a parody of "True Crime". GTA isn't rubbish, by any means, but it's just recycling itself these days.

Re: GTA V

So you're the guy of the cerbwang fame at gtaforums? Nah, not going into it too much.

GTA V isn't revisiting San andreas but a re-imagined southern california. It will be different.

You obviously haven't played Just Cause 2, which has a 1074 square kilometer map (for reference, GTA:SA has a map size of about 36 square kilometers) and still works as an action game, it does not play like World of Warcraft at all. With a map size like that, aircrafts finally make sense. The downside of having a world that large is that it is kind of hard to properly integrate it with story-heavy (like in GTA) gameplay, even in San Andreas there were some parts of the map that hardly mattered for story purposes.

Cerbera's reputation is obviously following him around.

I have to say, that car looks awesome. I wonder what platform the screenshots are taken from, probably not PS3/Xbox360.

Re: GTA V

I know it's a long shot, but I'm really really hoping they include more cities than just LA. Though even if it's just LA and some countryside and whatnot, I'm sure Rockstar will have made the map massive enough that I just won't care.

Officially excited about this, looks spot on (the cheetah is awesome).

Has there been any word on a PC release? I've not really been paying attention to be honest..

As far as I know there's no official word on any system, though I expect it to be like GTA IV and release 6 months after consoles.

Re: GTA V

I expect it to be a simultaneous release. Max Payne 3 closed the gap between Console and PC release and I read somewhere that they are looking forward to remove this gap in all their future games. Here's to hoping. [I do not own a console. sad ]

Re: GTA V

Considering the fact that most console ports do not look as much better as they could (in theory) on PC, I guess they will look roughly the same, only in higher resolution.

Re: GTA V

They didn't PORT max Payne 3 to PC. They made it for PC. I expect the same for GTAV.

Re: GTA V

What I meant is that they didn't directly port the console version but developed the same game on PC for the PC version and MP3 looks cool on PC but obviously you're entitled to your own opinion. I think the PC version of MP3 is really good on graphics scale given that rig is of the quality they recommended.
